Fall is here!

I cannot believe that it is already October! Around here fall not only means cooler weather, but bonfires, camping, and lots of trips to Uwharrie! Even the pups are enjoying this weather - I've never seen them dragging their feet - errrr, paws!- to come inside the house.

We have had about 30 trees taken down from all over the yard. Although its making my front yard look like a hurricane came through, the lack of trees is making it actually look like a YARD! We are so excited to start tearing more things up and planting grass... The best is yet to come!

be a delight!

Back on track...!

I cannot believe that it has almost been 6 months since we've moved into our home!

Here are a few updates:

I re-planted and pruned the rose bush on the side of the porch - it's blooming like crazy!

We took out the shrubbery around the garage and made the driveway wider.

We also took out all the shrubbery around the front of the house. It looks a little bare, but so much better without those massive shrubs!

New front hallway lighting from ikea!

New curtain rod & lighting for the dining room. Both silver. Check out that amazing wood floor!

I constructed a pallet garden made of lime & purple begonias and snap dragons earlier this week. It looks so great! I put it in the front of the house, in front of the porch, with some hostas and decorative grass. Once I get it fully completed (tomorrow hopefully!) I'll post pics of that and the garden as well.

There are tomatoes, herbs and peppers growing currently. Once I get a space tilled in the back, I'm going to plant some okra and possibly green beans if it's not too late.

Let me know what you think of the changes! :)

March Madness!

Wow, it's been crazy over at the Dent household! We've done so much outside lately that it's hard to keep up with the progress.

With spring in season, we've begun to see what all has been planted at the house before we arrived. Many, many hostas and decorative grasses have popped up, along with lillie's and gladiolas.

After trimming back the roses and cleaning out their area, there are too many buds to count! It will be so exciting to see what colors and types will bloom out!

Also was able to go to Callicut's with my mom the other day... I love that nursery! I picked up some herbs - rosemary and basil - to add to my cilantro. Also picked up some banana peppers, jalepeno's and two types of tomato plants. I was left with a dozen or so snapdragons from my mom... I haven't decided where I'm going to put them yet, but I'm excited to see how they do!

More work will come in the next few days... Can't wait to show you what I've done inside the house!

Outdoor Work!

It was finally nice enough to work outside this afternoon! We had these horrendous bushes in front of our basement windows, deck, kitchen window and front porch. We were able to pull them up with the tractor - those roots were massive. Now the front of our house looks a little naked, but I'll plan that out this week. I love seeing changes to our cute little house!
